From November 13th to November 17th, WP is hosting a competition for students to come to school on time for a week to win a free breakfast.
Starting on November 13th, WP encourages students to show up early and on time for second-period class for a chance to win a breakfast.
According to school announcements, the breakfast will consist of donuts, bagels, juice and more!
The goal of the breakfast according to Principal Kelly Ann Witkowski is to, “get kids to come to school on time and more often.” This comes after the average attendance rate dropped from 90% to 88%.
How do WP students feel about this event?
WP senior Brianna Nauth said, “ I think it is something I’m going to do, but I feel like this is the school bribing kids to come.”
Another WP student Janise (who asked to not use her last name) said, “ I’m not interested in it, but other students might be.”
She also went on to say, “If students do participate I think it would bring up attendance, if that’s the main reason as to why it’s happening.”
The school’s goal is to bring up attendance and to find a solution for kids being late to class while providing a fun activity.
The event only lasts a week, with many other events like these planned to go on in the future. Talk to your classmates about being on time for this event to win a breakfast for your class.
