On May 17, 2024 Williamsburg Prep students had Career Day. Career Day is a time where the school brings many people from different professions. Like people who are Lawyers, Engineers, Investors, Finances, Doctors, Nurses, Art directors and things of that nature.
These people are then invited into classrooms where they tell students important information about their work- life balance and overall they’re experiences working at their job.
Students can ask questions and can learn from this experience. Career day guides students because it gives them more information on who they want to be for Life After High School.
Ashlyn Johnson from Williamsburg Prep stated, “There were 4 ladies that came in and the doctor was my favorite, she told stories about surgeries and her family. She spoke about having to not dwell on her clients and patients’ operations.”
Alejandro Perez from Williamsburg Prep stated, “It was pretty boring, there weren’t interesting people, I had a lawyer, art director, and investor.”
According to Chicago Public Schools, “A career day is an activity in which business partners from a variety of companies come together at a school to share information about their workplace, their job, and the education and skills that are required for success in their career. “
