On Tuesday, April 16th, WP will be hosting a talent show where students will be able to showcase their talents. Freshmen and sophomores are scheduled to watch during the 4th period. Meanwhile, juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to see the show during the 6th period.
Auditions were held on March 12th and the 13th in room 433 during lunch. However, students are still free to try and sign up. For any questions, students can reach Mr. Bullington in room 433 or through email at [email protected].
Teachers working behind the scenes are Ms. Wagner, Mr. Benoit, Ms. Bolas, and several volunteers.
Rehearsals for the talent show will be held on the Tuesday, Friday, and Thursday before the official talent show day.
Mr. Bullington shares how he hopes to see students and performers feel amazing.
“We want the stars to feel like stars and to showcase as much of the range of talents we have here. I think we all sometimes get stuck in our own bubbles of what school and the students (and teachers) are like, and the talent show allows us to break out of that and see people in a way we never saw them before.”
New equipment will be available this year, such as a new audio mixer, effects, and more. This will enhance students performances and allow the audience to enjoy the show with better quality.
“There are no real criteria for auditions other than time and quality. We like to have a mix of things. We had some really good auditions. Now the task is to narrow things down to make a lineup that flows and fits the time constraints,” shares Mr. Bullington. He believes this is a chance for students to show what they are really made of and break out of their shells.
Students can look forward to performances from Ms. Luckie, a teacher at WP, a few performers from last year, and new faces.
Christian Lora, a returning performer, shares his thoughts on this experience. “It feels great to be performing again. Ever since I’ve started at WP, the talent show has been something to look forward to, and since this is my last year, it’s only right that I end it on a high note.”
Lora shares how he will have a small change in his performance compared to his last album, “Creep,” by Radiohead. “I’ll still be singing with my guitar, but the song will be a little more soulful and intimate.”
Sophia Chavez, a senior at WP, will be watching the talent show from the audience. She shares her excitement to see what’s coming. “I want to see exciting things like dances, comedy, and rap. Just things out of the box and some surprises.”
