On April 3rd 2024, Junior students at Williamsburg Preparatory took the SAT but this year it was on computers rather than on paper. This is the first time that the SAT was introduced on screens. For the most part, it was a very positive experience for the students at WP. The SAT is an entrance exam which is used by most colleges and universities.
A junior that attends Williamsburg Preparatory, Flix Huang stated that, “The SAT overall was okay. The math section was harder, but I prefer doing the SAT on the computer since it’s way better and more convenient.
He continues, “Last year on the PSAT, reading essays on paper was harder since it was longer.”
Another junior that attends Williamsburg Preparatory, Hezekiah Austin, stated that, “It was decent, I prefer it on computers since it had a timer on it this time, but the math section was the hardest for me.”
Liana Cierria stated, “Some parts of it was easy while others were hard, the English Section was the hardest for me.”
A lot of students at Williamsburg Prep prefer doing the SAT online because the English passages were shorter, and they placed a timer for each section. This makes students learn how to manage their time while doing the test.
According to https://www.princetonreview.com/, “The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student’s readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.”
Taking the SAT is beneficial because it can be used to get a better chance in colleges. Though some colleges don’t require you to send in your SAT score.
The SAT is important, According to https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/, “Although some four-year colleges don’t require an admission test score as part of your application, the test strengthens your college application nearly everywhere.”
If you get a bad grade on the SAT, you can retake it as many times you want to improve your score.
